Homophobic pride
A prefect smiling and feeling excited said that the couple tickets for the Valentine ball are not available for two boys or two girls. I find this very offensive! How can this happen at a school? !how can this happen in a democratic country? !NO. .

You are correct, the prefect is in direct violation of Section 9 (3) of the Bill of Rights which entails the Equality clause. This clause states that :
“The state may not unfairly discriminate directly or indirectly against anyone on one or more grounds, including race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth”. The prefect had the responsibility of protecting you instead of discriminating against you. However the prefects views do not necessarily reflect the schools views regarding the matter, the prefect discriminated against you based on your sexual orientation and you have a full right to report the matter to a teacher who you feel comfortable communicating with and ask them to assist and support you through the reporting processes.
