Hello, We are so sorry to hear about what your friend is going through and thank you for reporting on her behalf. The abuse that your friend is being subjected to by her parents is against the law and is seen as child abuse. The Constitution of South Africa protects LGBTIQ+ people and her sexual orientation should not be used as a justification for the abuse. She should report the abuse being inflicted by her parents to any teacher who she feels comfortable, the teacher will and has the legal responsibility to help her get access to a safe place, assist with the processes related to “Protection orders” and they will also help your friend seek psychological assistance for herself because in this time she needs all of the support she can get to overcome the emotional and psychological effects of the abuse.
